Salmon are important ecologically, economically, and culturally to Washington State. Yet, their populations are in decline and need our help!
Help our organization make the necessary steps towards successful salmon population recovery by planting native trees and shrubs at the Qwuloolt Estuary in Marysville!
This service site, Qwuloolt, is where Sound Salmon Solutions and Tulalip Tribes are working together to remove invasive species like Reed Canary Grass and Himalayan Blackberry, and revegetate the area with native species like Western Red Cedar, Red Alder, Red Osier Dogwood, and Douglas Fir. All of this work is in preparation for the partial removal of the levee on Ebey Slough in 2013. This area will provide crucial intertidal habitat for juvenile salmon to make the change from freshwater to saltwater fish.
Come out, plant trees, and help save salmon!
Please wear sturdy shoes or boots, dress for the weather, and bring a lunch. We will provide shovels, gloves, water, and a light snack.
