This unique event is a combination of learning and service! Come out to this beautiful site, gain some valuable information from booths sponsored by Allen/Quilceda Watershed Action Team (AQWA) team members, and take the time to plant a native tree! Also, the first 200 people will receive a free t-shirt!
This service site, Qwuloolt, is where Sound Salmon Solutions and Tulalip Tribes are working together to remove invasive species like Reed Canary Grass and Himalayan Blackberry, and vegetate the area with native species like Western Red Cedar, Red Alder, Red Osier Dogwood, and Douglas Fir. All of this work is preparation for the removal of part of the levee on Ebey Slough in 2013. This area will provide crucial intertidal habitat for juvenile salmon to make the change from freshwater to salt water fish. Read more information on the Qwuloolt project.
Come out, plant a tree, and save some salmon!
